Paver Installation

Paver Installation for Patios, Walkways and Driveways That Stay Level

Building Outdoor Living Space Across Northeast Georgia

Our paver installation gives you a patio, walkway or driveway that stays level and sheds rain. Pavers are solid blocks of concrete or stone set side by side. What keeps them flat is the packed stone base under them. We dig out, build the base and set each paver tight. Driveways get a thicker base than patios, since cars weigh more than people.

Weather Tech Roofing is based in Elberton. We install pavers for homes and businesses in Athens, Winterville and Danielsville. We build across Northeast Georgia, from short garden paths to full driveways. Every job gets the same standard: done right the first time.

What's Included

From Dig-Out to Joint Sand: How We Lay Pavers

Good paver work is mostly about what you never see. We dig to firm soil, pack it, then build up a crushed stone base in layers. A patio or walk built from pavers adds lasting outdoor space to homes across Northeast Georgia. We slope the surface slightly so rain runs off instead of sitting.

How a Solid Base Keeps Your Pavers Level

Fewer Sunken and Shifting Pavers

Pavers sink when the ground under them moves. A thick, packed base spreads out the weight and lets water drain away. That helps keep ruts, low spots and puddles from forming.

Matching Base Depth to the Job

Paver walkways and patios need at least 4 inches of packed base on good ground. Paver driveways need at least 6 inches because cars are much heavier. We add more base where the soil is soft, drains poorly or freezes.

Keeping Joint Sand Topped Off

Joint sand settles over time, so sweep in more when the gaps look low. Full joints keep pavers locked together and help keep weeds out.

Patios, Walks and Drives We Build With Pavers

Many paver jobs start with a backyard patio off the deck or back door. Walkways link the driveway to the front door or a side gate. Driveways carry cars, so they get a deeper, heavier base. Pool decks, fire pit areas and garden paths are good fits too. Our team builds them as part of our landscaping work.

Each spot brings its own soil and water. A patio near a downspout needs that water steered away from it. Low, soggy ground gets dug out deeper and filled with more stone. Next to a slope, a short retaining wall can hold soil back from the pavers.

  • Backyard patios for grilling, seating and fire pits
  • Front walks that run from the driveway to the door
  • Driveways and parking pads built to carry car weight
  • Garden paths and pool surrounds that replace muddy dirt trails

How thick should the base be under a paver patio?

A paver patio needs at least 4 inches of packed stone base on firm, well-drained ground. Soft clay, wet spots or freezing ground call for more. The base does most of the work of keeping pavers level.

Can pavers hold up to cars on a driveway?

Yes, pavers can carry car traffic when the base is built for it. A home driveway needs at least 6 inches of packed base on good soil. Weak or wet soil needs a thicker base than that.

Why do pavers sink or become uneven?

Pavers usually sink because the base was too thin or not packed well. Water sitting under the base also softens the soil below. The fix is to lift the pavers and rebuild the base.

Do pavers need new joint sand?

Yes, joint sand settles and washes out over time. It needs topping off now and then. Full joints hold the pavers tight against each other.

What is an edge restraint for pavers?

An edge restraint is a border that holds the outer pavers in place. Without it, the edges spread and the pattern loosens. It can be a plastic or metal edge staked down or a concrete border.
